The Building Army
He conscripted seventy thousand men as carriers and eighty thousand as stonecutters in the hills and thirty-six hundred as foremen over them.
2 Chronicles 2:2 (NIV)
Solomon assigned seventy thousand carriers, eighty thousand hillside cutters, and thirty-six hundred foremen for the temple. Love organizing multitudes for glory. Temples never rise with loose goodwill but planned scale. Every carrier counted. God uses ordered crowds, never anxious gatherings. Numbers with purpose erect eternities.
Carriers, cutters, foremen: distinct functions, equal dignity. Love distributes tasks humiliating no trades. Hillside stone-cutting equals shadow supervising. Functional hierarchy, essential equality. Healthy churches honor carriers like preachers. Every temple post is holy.
Thirty-six hundred foremen: sufficient leadership for immense crowds. Love supervises unsuffocating. Wise proportion: one leader per forty. Shepherding reaches when structures sustain. Leaderless crowds become confusion; led ones become construction. Organizing is loving on spreadsheets.
Today, find your army post: carry, cut, or supervise joyfully. Love serves where needed, never where noticed. And organize your work: divide tasks, name supervisors, count results. Today's temple — home, business, ministry — deserves Solomon's scale and servant hearts.
And serve at posts: organized armies erect temples. Serve at posts today. Organized armies build. Find places. Carry loads. Cut stone. Cut stone and carry beams. Work hard. Finish well. Persevere. Persevere daily and build grandly. Organize wisely. Count results.
