Willing Shepherds

· Topic: peace

Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers — not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve;

1 Peter 5:2 (NIV)

Peter orders elders: shepherd God's flock, not by compulsion but willingly, as God wants; not greedy but eager serving. Peace in willing shepherding. Flocks feel differences between compelled and desiring shepherds. Sheep flourish under joyful staffs. Volunteers feed; hirelings shear.

Not by compulsion but willingly: motivation examines ministries. Ministerial peace is born wanting, never owing. Obligation without love breeds bitter shepherds and wounded sheep. God wants willing hearts in pulpits and doors. Review motivations: do you serve wanting or owing? Wanting renews; owing exhausts.

Not greedy but eager: antidotes against sacred mercantilism. Financial peace in ministry: contentment shields against manipulation. Shepherds serving lovingly preach authoritatively; serving for profit sell discounted. Sheep notice wallets before sermons. Serving desire attracts provision unbegging.

Today, shepherd your flock — family, team, class — willingly and joyfully. Serve calculating no returns. Willing-shepherd peace infects sheep. Today's serving desire attracts tomorrow's divine care. Joyful staffs guide to green pastures.

And shepherd willingly: cared flocks live in peace. Shepherd willingly today. Cared flocks live. Serve gladly. Feed sheep. Guard lambs. Guard lambs and guide strays. Pray often. Visit sick. Abide. Abide faithful and lead gently. Love deeply. Stay pure.
