The Cool of the Day

They hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Genesis 3:8 (NIV)

After the fall, the first sound Adam and Eve hear is the Bible's tenderest: the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day. God strolling — like one visiting friends at dusk. The couple runs to hide among trees, but notice: God came. Even after disobedience, even knowing all, he came walking. Grace arrives on foot, in the breeze, calling by name.

Hope lives in that stroll. God sent no collecting angel, no lightning bolt; he came himself, asking “where are you?” Before sentence, seeking; before curse, conversation. So he treats every fall of ours: drawing near in the day's breeze — a message, a verse, a prodding conscience — and calling. Whoever hides delays healing; whoever answers hastens restoration.

Hear the footsteps today: God strolls toward you right now. Step out from the trees — excuses, hideouts, fig leaves. Answer “here I am” instead of fleeing. The day's breeze carries the seeking God, and whoever is found by him never gets lost again. Hiding delays healing; answering hastens restoration. Step into the breeze today and let seeking grace find you. Confess quickly and walk restored.
