Time to Turn North
You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north.
Deuteronomy 2:3 (NIV)
After years circling the same mountains, Israel heard from God: you have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north. Forty desert years included long seasons walking in circles — same fears, same complaints, same scenery. God did not rebuke them for walking; he rebuked them for circling. There is a difference between journey and repetition: journeys advance, repetition merely exhausts.
Unforgiven hurt is the most-circled mountain of all. We retell the offense, revisit the scene, rehearse the arguments — calling it “processing” when it is really circling. Forgiving means turning north: deciding that mountain will no longer anchor the map. It does not say it never hurt; it says it will no longer hold me. Forgiveness is the compass lifting hearts out of the loop.
Name your mountain today: which hurt have you circled for months or years? Hear the voice saying “long enough” and turn north — forgive, release, advance. The desert ends for whoever decides to walk; and God's north always holds new horizons. Circles exhaust while direction restores. Forgiveness turns wandering feet toward home again. Turn north today and feel the wind change.
