Remain in Ephesus

· Topic: love

As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer

1 Timothy 1:3 (NIV)

Paul had urged Timothy: as I went to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus commanding no false doctrines. Love requesting permanence where trouble brews. Ephesus bubbled novelties; Timothy must stay confronting. Fleeing difficult churches is easy; remaining lovingly is apostolic. The called stay put.

Command certain people no longer: love confronts names, never mere ideas. Paul knew who; Timothy must act. Love shields flocks from addressed wolves. Silence before false teachers colludes with deceit. Shepherds loving warn; silent ones consent. Loving authority says no firmly.

False doctrines: the plural reveals deceit factories. Ephesus produced myths, genealogies, speculations. Love guards sound doctrine as treasure. Every generation needs Timothys remaining and commanding. Remaining resists; commanding loves. Healthy churches keep guards awake at truth's door.

Today, remain in your Ephesus: difficult family, troubled church, hostile work. Never flee for comfort; stay for calling. And lovingly command what must stop: conversations, habits, teachings. Today's faithful permanence guards many's faith tomorrow.

And remain loving: guarded Ephesuses breed healthy churches. Remain loving today. Guarded Ephesuses breed health. Stay and command. Confront error. Stay put. Guard truth. Guard truth and teach soundly. Remain faithful. Love flocks. Persevere. Endure. Stand firm always.
