Untouchable Mountain

· Topic: obedience

You have not come to a mountain that can be touched.

Hebrews 12:18 (NIV)

Hebrews contrasts covenants with holy geography: you have not come to touchable mountains, burning, dark, stormy. Untouchable Sinai — even animals forbidden contact. Approaching God under old covenants risked death: thunder, prohibitions, dread. Terror-born obedience trembles, flees.

New-covenant obedience springs from other mountains: heavenly Zion, living God's city, firstborn festivities. Approaching not trembling but trusting — blood speaking better than Abel's. Same God, different access: reverent fear sans panic, filial obedience sans terror. Untouchable mountains became embracing Fathers.

Approaching confidently today: entering holy places through blood, praying boldly, obeying lovingly. Untouchable mountains: arriving today fearless, serving.

Opened accesses demand steady steps. Entering today, abiding. Free entries require reverent steps daily. Enter today bold yet humble. Boldness balanced with trembling pleases heaven. Kneel first, then stand tall. Standing tall after kneeling lasts. Pride falls; humility rises. Worship low, stand tall. Enter reverently always. Draw near daily. Free accesses demand reverent steps always. Enter today fearless, frivolous never. Filial trust balances boldness, reverence. Approach with broken, contrite hearts. God receives broken, resists proud. Repent and enter confidently today.

And obeying while listening: heaven-speaking Gods deserve earthly ears. Obey promptly today and always.
