I Will Not Flee

In the Lord I take refuge.

Psalms 11:1 (NIV)

Frightened counselors urge David's flight: flee like birds to mountains! The whole psalm's implicit answer: I will not flee — I take refuge in the Lord. Birds flee instinctively; righteous remain trustingly. When foundations shake, cowards fly, believers stay. Refuge is no fearful hiding but faithful fortress.

Staying trust defeats fleeing panic. Fleeing looks sensible when everything shakes — switching churches, cities, marriages. But refuge in the Lord turns permanence into victory: staying praying where others flee running. David stayed and reigned; Saul fled to witchcraft, dying. Flight directions reveal faith directions: toward God or away.

Refusing one flight today: remaining in difficult marriages praying, imperfect churches serving, hard cities witnessing. I will not flee: birds fly, righteous remain.

Faithful permanences turn deliverance stories. Staying today, recounting tomorrow. Stay put today. Remain steadfast always starting today. Fearful wings carry away from blessings. Refuse panic flights today and remain. Deep roots defeat strong winds always. Staying wins disguised as waiting. Staying wins disguised as patient waiting. Remain today and reap tomorrow. Firm stands harvest divine surprises. Never fly from appointed posts ever. Remain rooted.

And when foundations shake again, remembering: refuge, never wings.
