Let Us Love One Another
Let us love one another, for love comes from God.
1 John 4:7 (NIV)
John commands tenderly: dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Imperatives wrapped in affection — “dear” before “let us.” And motives disarming resistance: love comes from God; lovers are born of Him, knowing Him. Loving imports no foreign virtue but exports own nature: God's born love like breathing — because Fathers breathe love.
Courage loves first. Waiting to be loved before loving is worldly prudence; loving to generate love is divine daring. John links loving to knowing: lovers know God; loveless ones never saw Him. Unfailing yet uncomfortable exams — measuring recent love discovers actual theology. Loveless theology is astronomy: describing stars, warming nobody.
Love someone difficult first today: calling, forgiving, serving, hugging. Let us love one another: courage defeating coldness, generating family.
God-sourced love returns Godward in praise. Loving today, worshiping always. First loves birth eternal families daily. Love today before being loved, reaping later. Love's daring melts ancient ice. Warm cold hearts with first gestures. Proceeding love returns praising. Love again tomorrow without expiring. Divine love never expires; spend freely. Give daily and glow eternally. Start now.
And tomorrow, loving anew: divine love carries no expiry dates.
