Enemies Left Behind

The five rulers of the Philistines.

Judges 3:3 (NIV)

God deliberately left nations in Canaan: the five Philistine rulers, Canaanites, Sidonians, Hivites — to test Israel, teaching warfare to the unskilled. Strange plan: keeping enemies to train people. God never promised fight-free existence but presence within fights. Leftover enemies are armed teachers: training vigilance, prayer, dependence. Total comfort would breed unprepared armies.

Leaders grow in wars, never offices. David formed in giant valleys; Paul in wrecks and prisons; Jesus in deserts facing tempters. Every leftover enemy enrolls heaven-taught classes: patience with difficult people, faith under pressure, holiness in hostile settings. Complaining about Philistines refuses training; facing them with God graduates.

Name your leftovers today: which persons, temptations, limits does God keep for training? Stop begging removal, start asking strategy. Enemies left behind: training fields of future winners.

Divine training grants no exemptions. Showing up today, fighting well. Heavenly drills admit no mid-term dropouts. Stay today on battlefields with God beside you. Today's Philistines become tomorrow's testimonies. Fight well and recount later. The Instructor never watches from afar. Graduate through battles into victories daily. Enroll daily and graduate gloriously. Train daily, triumph finally.

And remember: the Instructor fights alongside, never merely watches afar.
