Rise Up!
Rise, and let us go against her for battle.
Obadiah 1:1 (NIV)
Obadiah opens with divine summons: we have heard a message from the Lord — an envoy was sent to nations: rise, and let us go against her for battle! The Old Testament's shortest book starts in total mobilization against Edom's pride, the brother watching Judah collapse arms-crossed. God musters nations trumpet-like: enough neutrality before evil — rise up.
Leaders mobilize. Vision sans summons is daydreaming; calling sans response is lamenting. Obadiah not only saw — proclaimed; proclamation moved armies. Leading turns messages into movements: communicating clearly, summoning urgently, pointing courageously. Edom fell because God rose first — deploying willing risers alongside. Heaven-mobilized defeat earthly armies.
Rise to your summons today: forgiving, serving, witnessing, starting. And mobilize others — inviting friends to pray, to serve, announcing vision. Rise up!: the shortest, mightiest order leaders can obey and repeat.
Sitters watch history; risers write it. Rise today. Summons demand movement, never opinions. Rise from comfortable neutrality today and march forward. Heaven's trumpets sound for attentive ears and willing feet. Those rising with God never march alone. Obey promptly and summon others boldly. Answer the mobilization today and write history with heaven. Risers inherit the future.
