Faithful in Times of Wrath

· Topic: service

It was because of the Lord's anger that all this happened to Jerusalem and Judah.

2 Kings 24:20 (NIV)

Kings ends on heavy sentence: because of the Lord's anger all this befell Jerusalem and Judah; finally he thrust them from his presence. Generations of idolatry footed the bill — exile, ruin, silence. And amid judgment, one detail: Zedekiah rebelled against Babylon's king. Even under discipline, hearts insist on rebelling — against God and circumstances. Rebellion doubles judgment's weight.

Serving in wrathful times demands Daniel's faithfulness, never Zedekiah's rebellion. Daniel, exiled, served excellently in Babylon: praying, working, influencing — rebelling against neither God nor providence. Faithful servants bloom even captive: planting gardens, seeking cities' peace, awaiting restoration. Faithfulness depends not on scenery but on Lord.

Serve where exiled today: excellence in hard jobs, prayer in strange cities, peace in hostile settings. Never rebel against discipline — learn through it. Faithfulness in wrathful times prepares restitution in gracious times.

Exiles end; faithful remain. Serve today, harvest tomorrow. Rebellion doubles judgment's weight invariably. Choose Daniel's path today: pray in strange cities, work excellently, influence quietly. Exiles end on schedule; faithful remain standing afterward. Learn through discipline rather than fighting it. Serve now, harvest restoration later. Plant gardens even in foreign soil today.
