The Servants of Ophel

· Topic: faith

The temple servants lived on the hill of Ophel.

Nehemiah 11:21 (NIV)

In the list repopulating Jerusalem, one nearly invisible group appears: the temple servants lived on Ophel's hill, under Ziha and Gishpa. Temple servants — hauling water, sweeping courts, keeping fires lit. No personal names on record, no famous tribe, just role and address: Ophel. The rebuilt city needed them as much as governors.

Faith prizes Ophel's servants. Every church owns its hill — nursery, sound, cleaning, coffee, doors — upheld by people nobody applauds. Moving worship depends on hands arriving early, unseen. God lists these servants in eternity as carefully as Nehemiah listed them in the book: humble role, whole faithfulness. Ophel is anonymous faithfulness's address.

Honor one Ophel servant today: thank, help, notice the invisible. And if you are the servant — continue: God sees the hill. Ophel's servants uphold the temple still, and the temple thanks them on its knees. Invisible hands hold visible worship together. Arrive early, stay late, serve unseen — heaven logs every hidden hour. Thank an Ophel servant today, and if you are one, persevere joyfully. Anonymous now, honored forever; God reads every name in his book. No humble service ever goes unnoticed by the Father who sees in secret and rewards openly.
