The Mind of Christ
Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 2:5 (NIV)
Paul condenses all Christian ethics into one line: your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus. Then he describes it — emptied himself, humbled himself, obedient unto death. Attitude here means mindset: the thinking producing the acting. Before washing feet, Jesus thought as a servant; before the cross, he decided to obey. Conduct follows mind as shadow follows body.
The hope of the lowly is that God exalts. The hymn continues: therefore God exalted him to the highest place. Christ's road descends to ascend — whoever humbles themselves will be exalted, whoever serves will be honored. Our voluntary humiliations never end in dust; they end on thrones, for the Father forgets no emptying done in love. Losing with Christ invests in exaltation.
Wear Christ's mind today in one concrete setting: yield the turn, apologize first, serve uncredited, obey at cost. Think like him before acting like him. Christ's attitude in you today is God's exaltation over you tomorrow. Mindset precedes conduct always. Think like a servant before acting like one: yield turns, forgive first, serve uncredited. Voluntary descents end in divine lifts. Wear his mind today and inherit his honor tomorrow.
