From the Whole Heart
Like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.
Ephesians 6:6 (NIV)
Paul teaches slaves and employees a revolutionary way to work: obey not only to win favor when watched, but like slaves of Christ, doing God's will from the heart. The sincerity test is audience absence: whoever works well only under the boss's eye serves the boss; whoever works well alone serves Christ. God measures hearts, not spotlights — and hearts show when nobody watches.
The faithful servant's hope is that nothing escapes heaven's notice. The well-crafted dawn report, the unpraised thorough task, the costly honesty — all enter God's memorial. Working “from the heart” turns any trade into ministry: teacher, cleaner, manager, driver. Earthly bosses pay wages; the eternal Lord keeps rewards. And his rewards never arrive late.
Work for Christ today: excel at the invisible, skip flattery, deliver your best with no audience. If the boss never sees, God sees; if nobody thanks, he thanks. From the whole heart — because the whole heart is heaven's only résumé. Audiences applaud and forget; God notices and remembers. Work today's tasks as worship: thorough reports, honest hours, cheerful service. No effort done for Christ ever goes unpaid. Heaven's payroll never misses; serve wholeheartedly and collect eternally.
