The Word Brought to Light
He brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me.
Titus 1:3 (NIV)
Paul tells Titus how the Gospel reached him: at his appointed season God brought his word to light through the preaching entrusted to me by God's command. Notice the chain: God holds the word, chooses the time, uses preaching, and entrusts it to a man — a former persecutor, no less. The world's most precious light travels in clay jars, by express order of light's Owner. God needs no perfect messengers; he needs forgiven ones.
Forgiveness centers that chain. Paul, who approved deaths, received the mission of announcing life — because the richly forgiven preach with authority the spotless lack. Light-bringing preaching is born in hearts rescued from darkness: each testimony of grace lights a corner where someone still stumbles. Your forgiven story is a lantern in God's hand.
Let your word come to light today: tell someone what God did for you, preach with your life before your words, confess where he pulled you from. In due season — which may be today — God uses forgiven mouths to kindle extinguished hearts. Forgiven mouths carry heaven's light best. Tell your story simply and watch darkness retreat. Today may be someone's due season.
