Fortified City

· Topic: purpose

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city, but poverty is the ruin of the poor.

Proverbs 10:15 (NIV)

Solomon contrasts: rich men's wealth is fortified cities, but poverty ruins the poor. The proverb's purpose diagnoses trusts. The rich trust coin walls; the poor despair in ruins. Both miss security's address. Golden cities fall; ruins with God rise. True fortresses own other Founders.

Rich men's wealth is their city: possessives reveal idolatry. Their city — built, guarded, inhabited by them. Wealth becomes emotional addresses. Whoever dwells in money gets evicted in crises. Wealth's purpose is instruments, never domiciles. Use as bridges, never homes. Vault dwellers become hostages.

But poverty ruins the poor: the opposite extreme kills too. Poverty crushing hope becomes mental prison. Work's and wisdom's purpose breaks cycles. God frees from ruins with provision and dignity. Neither idolize wealth nor romanticize poverty: both distort. Biblical balance: contentment with diligence.

Today, change addresses: leave money's city and despondency's ruin. Dwell in the Lord's fortress. Your goods' purpose changes when Owners change. Administered wealth becomes blessing; faith-faced poverty becomes testimony. Your domicile defines destinies.

And dwell on Rocks: eternal fortresses shield temporals. Dwell on Rocks today. Eternal fortresses shield. Move addresses. Trust Rock. Abide safe. Rest secure. Dwell deep. Remain. Abide. Stay.
