Shattered Altars
No Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.
Isaiah 27:9 (NIV)
Isaiah explains Jacob's pardon: when he makes altar stones shattered like chalk dust, and sacred poles, incense altars stand no more. Pardon with sledgehammers: demolishing idolatries into powder. God never shares hearts — either altars fall or fellowship falls. Repentance preserving idols is façade renovation.
Generosity toward God starts demolishing competitors. We give Him time, money, affection — keeping little altars: vanities, vices, controls. Smashing hurts because idols charge emotional tolls; but chalk dust competes with nobody. Altar-free hearts receive whole Gods; divided ones receive visits.
Smashing one altar today: deleting, breaking, confessing, abandoning. Shattered altars: pardon starting with sledgehammers ends in feasts.
Chalk dust never rebuilds. Demolishing today, leaving no stones. Raze fully today. Thorough demolitions free hearts fully and finally forever. Raze everything today down to fine dust. Sledgehammers demolish idols effectively always. Wield yours today decisively. Internal demolitions precede eternal constructions. Clear heart terrains fully. Cleared terrains invite divine inhabitation gladly. Empty idols' rooms completely. God fills demolished hearts abundantly. Sweep clean today. Powdered altars never rise again. Grind thoroughly and scatter widely. Freed hearts worship solely. Celebrate demolitions joyfully.
And celebrating demolitions: every fallen altar raises God's throne.
