Tested Like the Righteous

The Lord examines the righteous.

Psalms 11:5 (NIV)

David opens Psalm 11 contrasting moral universes: the Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and violence-lovers His soul hates. God tests — assays, refines, examines — the righteous; hating violent wickedness. Testing is no punishment: goldsmiths assay gold certifying worth, never destroying metal. Being tested signals authenticity in process.

True rest grows from such distinctions. Pressures raise sleep-stealing questions — “has God abandoned me?” — and psalms answer: He tests because you are righteous, never forgotten. Tests carry deadlines and purposes; wrath against wicked likewise. Resting means accepting crucibles knowing who holds tongs: refining Fathers, never destroying executioners.

Interpreting pressures psalmically today: tested or corrected? Walking justly, resting in tests — gold emerging. Walking violently, trembling and returning. Tested like the righteous: crucibles today, crowns tomorrow.

Divine crucibles carry thermostats. Trusting the Goldsmith today, resting in fires. Trust fully today. Crucibles with thermostats never waste gold pieces. Trust the Refiner today completely. Tested saints shine brighter afterward. Endure heat and emerge gleaming. Endure heat and emerge gleaming brightly. Certified gold comforts others waiting trials. Share stories after refining fires.

And emerging tested, recounting: certified golds calm others in crucibles.
