Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God.

2 Timothy 1:1 (NIV)

Paul opens his final letter with the credential sustaining everything: apostle of Christ Jesus by God's will, according to life's promise. No ambition, appointment, or examination — God's will. Divine callings dismiss human résumés: God chooses, enables, sustains. Timothy, reading in his mentor's Roman prison, learned ministry starts in heaven before happening on earth.

Families transmit such calling. The letter will soon recall grandmother Lois and mother Eunice — three generations bound by life's same promise. Callings inherit through example: parents living God's will raise children seeking it. Timothy never dropped heaven-ready from the sky; he formed in a home where God's will was table talk. Family vocation plants in ordinary days.

Live your calling at home today: praying with children, speaking God's will naturally, serving sans audience. By God's will: four words sustaining ministries and homes when prisons arrive.

Heaven-called callings resist earthly chains. Stay faithful where God placed you. Callings outlive prisons and pressures alike. Nurture yours at home today: pray with children, speak heaven naturally, serve unseen. Family altars forge future apostles quietly. Heaven-called purposes resist earthly chains completely. Stay planted where God placed you and bloom anyway.
