Abraham Fathered Isaac

· Topic: family

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob.

Matthew 1:2 (NIV)

Matthew opens the New Testament with a list many skip: Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers. Names and verbs, generation after generation, all the way to Jesus. God chose to tell history's greatest story in family format: the Savior enters history through a lineage of parents and children — faith, flaws, and all. Genealogy is theology tree-shaped.

Each “fathered” preaches a domestic sermon. Abraham fathered Isaac in old age, by promise; Isaac fathered Jacob amid favoritism and mess; Jacob fathered twelve amid rivalries — and God used them all. Imperfect families produce perfect purposes when God writes the list. Your children need no perfect parents; they need remaining, believing, apologizing ones.

Honor your lineage today: thank whoever generated your faith, forgive predecessors' faults, plant faith in successors. Abraham fathered Isaac — and your faithfulness today generates someone's tomorrow. God still writes genealogies, with your name on the next line. Bloodlines carry both blessings and battles onward. Forgive predecessors, bless successors, and stand faithful in your link today. Imperfect parents still transmit perfect purposes when God authors the story. Write your verse well; grandchildren read it later.
