How then can we escape?

Isaiah 20:6 (NIV)

Isaiah paints embarrassment day: that day the coast dwellers will say — see what happened to those we relied on, those we fled to against Assyria! And now? How can we escape? Judah trusted Egypt as invasion insurance; Egypt fell, the policy lapsed, leaving only the shamed question. Trusting wrong addresses charges shame interest.

Mature gratitude is born of that question. After disgrace, Judah learned what it should have known: only God is never-failing rescue. Our modern “Egypts” wear pretty names — savings, influence, degrees, insurance — failing with equal punctuality when most needed. They are not evil in themselves; they are evil as gods. The gap between using resources and trusting them spans gratitude to idolatry.

Answer honestly today: whom have you really trusted? Transfer the policy — thank God for resources while anchoring trust in him. Where was your trust? May today's answer differ from Judah's that day: I trusted — and I trust — the Lord. Egypt-policies always lapse at midnight. Audit your trusts today: which saviors stand when floods rise? Transfer coverage to the unfailing Insurer before claims arrive. Thank him for resources while anchoring hope solely in him. Shame fades where true trust begins.
