Peace With One Another

· Topic: forgiveness

Live in peace with each other.

1 Thessalonians 5:13 (NIV)

Paul closes his counsel to the Thessalonians with two fused commands: hold leaders in the highest regard in love because of their work — and live in peace with each other. The order matters: honoring servants and cultivating peace travel together. Communities despising their leaders rarely hold peace; peaceless communities consume their leaders. Esteem and peace are two wings of one healthy church.

Forgiving imperfect leaders belongs to the package. Pastors err, elders fail, volunteers wound — and the biblical response is neither idolizing nor shredding, but loving esteem and speedy forgiveness. “Because of their work” names the criterion: we honor service, not perfection. Whoever expects flawless leaders will church-hop forever; whoever learns to forgive them will live at peace in any church.

Honor someone serving you in faith today: a gratitude message, a prayer for your pastor, forgiveness for an old fault. And cultivate surrounding peace — defuse gossip, propose reconciliation, arrive early to help. Peace with one another never just happens; it is built, one forgiveness at a time. Honor feeds peace and peace protects honor. Thank a leader today and forgive one fault. Healthy churches are built, never accidental.
