Called, Loved, and Kept
To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ.
Jude 1:1 (NIV)
Jude could have introduced himself impressively: blood brother of Jesus, raised in the Savior's own house. Instead he chooses small words: a servant of Jesus Christ and a brother of James. He will not even use kinship as a badge — he would rather be a servant than a celebrity. True humility needs no spiritual surname; it is content serving the Lord whom others merely admire from afar.
Then he describes us with three verbs nobody can steal: called, loved by God the Father, and kept by Jesus Christ. Notice none of them depends on our performance: we were called before answering, loved before deserving, kept even when stumbling. Identity received, not earned. Whoever grasps this stops self-promoting — and stops despairing. Neither applause defines us nor failure erases us.
Trade the badge for the towel today: serve unsigned, help unposted, love unbilled. And when insecurity knocks, return to the three verbs: called, loved, kept. Jude, the brother turned servant, reminds you that the smallest title before men may be the greatest before God. Small titles received gratefully open doors that loud self-promotion never unlocks. Serve quietly and let heaven announce you.
