Elijah Is Here

Go tell your master, 'Elijah is here.'

1 Kings 18:8 (NIV)

Hidden for three years, Elijah meets Obadiah — the faithful servant who had sheltered a hundred prophets — and issues a terrifying order: go tell your master, “Elijah is here.” Obadiah freezes: Ahab would kill him if the prophet vanished again. But Elijah confirms it — yes, you may announce me. Israel's most dreaded reunion begins with a trembling servant carrying a message of reconciliation: the prophet never fled for good; he returned to settle accounts.

Forgiving demands this kind of showing up: appearing instead of hiding. Many conflicts last years not from the offense's gravity but because nobody says “I am here, let's resolve it.” Elijah could have called down fire from hiding; he preferred a face-to-face meeting on Carmel. Forgiveness walks toward conflict, not to fight, but to end the war.

Is there an “Ahab” in your story today — someone you broke with and have avoided for years? Or an “Obadiah” trembling between sides? Take the initiative: send the message, set the meeting, say “I am here.” Elijah is here — and the courage to show up is forgiveness's first miracle. Schedule today the meeting you have postponed for years.
