Loaves with Yeast
From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the Lord.
Leviticus 23:17 (NIV)
At Weeks' feast, Israel brought two yeast loaves, fine flour, as firstfruits to the Lord. Yeast's purpose in offerings intrigues: God receives sanctified commons. Everyday bread ascended altars. Offerings include routines, never mere exceptions. God wants Mondays, never only Sundays.
Baked with yeast: unlike Passover's unleavened. Firstfruits' feast celebrated harvests with what existed: yeast bread, real life. Variety's purpose shows holiness embracing seasons. Passover remembers exits; Pentecost celebrates sustenance. God receives unleavened and leavened — receives hearts.
As wave firstfruits: firstfruits waved before the Lord. Moving offerings, never stagnant. Movement's purpose is public dedication. Waving firstfruits declared: all comes from Him. Visible generosity inspires generosity. Waved firstfruits move hearts.
From wherever you live: decentralized offerings. Every house brought from where it stood. Proximity's purpose is inclusion. God receives in all villages, never only temples. Your kitchen becomes altars when firstfruits move. Carry from home the best to Him.
And offer firstfruits: moved loaves move heavens. Offer firstfruits today. Moved loaves move. Bring best. Give first. Share much. Share much and keep little. Trust Provider. Honor altars. Tithe. Offer. Offer gladly and worship grandly. Kneel low. Lift high. Celebrate. Rejoice. Dedicate. Consecrate. Sanctify.
