Do Not Be Shaken

Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers,

2 Thessalonians 2:1 (NIV)

Paul pleads concerning the Lord's coming and our gathering to Him. Eschatology's purpose comforts, never disturbs. Thessalonians shaken by forged letters thought they missed gatherings. Paul calms: let nobody deceive you. Coming doctrine soothes hearts, never alarms. Healthy eschatology produces serene holiness.

Brothers, concerning the coming: vocatives embrace before correcting. Pastoral purpose precedes doctrinal precision. Paul calls the confused brothers. Correction with affection enters; without, irritates. Hard truths call for soft arms. Embrace before adjusting. Love opens ears arguments shut.

And our gathering to Him: centers mean meetings, never schedules. Prophecy's purpose is Persons, never spreadsheets. Gathering to Him — emphasis on Him. Whoever loves comings purifies; whoever fears dates disturbs. Fix eyes on Bridegrooms, never clocks. Schedules pass; Gatherings stay.

Today, calm prophetic hearts: stop following alarmists and marked dates. Study comings sanctifying lives. Knowing ends' purpose is living nows. Today's lit lamp outweighs tomorrow's charts. Watch, work, wait.

And wait serenely: loved comings purify lives. Wait serenely today. Loved comings purify. Study prophecy. Trim lamps. Watch nightly. Watch nightly and work daily. Occupy till. Pray on. Abide. Remain. Remain ready and stay holy. Love appearing. Hasten day. Look up. Watch on.
