Blot Out Amalek
When the Lord your God gives you rest from all the enemies around you in the land he is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you shall blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. Do not forget!
Deuteronomy 25:19 (NIV)
Moses orders for after rest: when God gives relief from enemies, you shall blot out Amalek's memory from under heaven. Memory of scheduled judgment. Amalek had struck the weary rear; God took notes. Rest is no forgetting of justice. Inherited peace includes settling accounts with evil.
Do not forget!: the command ends with memory's exclamation. Forgetting Amalek would betray the fallen rear. Faithful memory honors victims and prevents repetitions. Peoples forgetting attacks repeat defeats. Remembering evil to uproot it is mercy to the future. Personal pardon never cancels historic judgment.
You shall blot out: human responsibility inside divine rest. God gives the land, Israel erases the memory. Grace never excuses obedience; inheritance calls for swords. Saul spared Agag and lost the kingdom; Samuel completed the sentence. Partial obediences breed future Amaleks. Completing is mercy.
Today, blot out your Amaleks: grudges, addictions, alliances striking your weary rear. Never negotiate what God ordered erased. True rest demands complete cleanup. Selective memory keeps enemies; total obedience guarantees repose. Cross out today what heaven crossed out.
And blot out pitilessly: holy memories host no Amaleks. Blot out today pitilessly. Erase Amaleks fully. Erase fully.
