Wind That Never Cleanses
But not to winnow or cleanse.
Jeremiah 4:11 (NIV)
Jeremiah announces judgment with divine meteorology: scorching desert-dune winds blowing toward my people — but not to winnow or cleanse. God's winds serve two functions: cleaning and destroying. Winnowing winds separate wheat from chaff, saving; scorching winds burn, salvaging nothing. Same people, different winds — responses decide: repentant get winnowed, hardened get burned.
Discerning rest distinguishes winds. Not every tempest punishes — some harvest; not every relief blesses — some preludes judgment. How to tell? Repentance-bringing winds cleanse; heart-hardening winds burn. Winnows ache yet save; scorchers consume. Asking God for wind discernment before complaining about climates.
Identifying your wind today: does it drive repentance or revolt? Wind that never cleanses: letting it burn chaff, never wheat.
Burned chaff fertilizes new plantings. Surrendering yours to right winds today. Discern daily, rest deeply and trust fully. Spiritual climates demand daily reading carefully. Read your skies with Bibles open. Right winds carry to safe harbors. Trim sails to divine breezes. Chaff burned fertilizes future plantings richly. Surrender straw willingly today. New growth follows holy fires. Discern winds kneeling always and truly. Read skies daily. Stay discerning.
And praying discernment: spiritual climates read kneeling.
