Far From Baal-Peor
So Israel joined in worshiping the Baal of Peor.
Numbers 25:3 (NIV)
The report shames: Israel joined Baal-Peor worship — and the Lord's anger burned. Egypt-freed people bowing to Moabite idols through seduction and sacrificial food. Fatal mixtures: God's covenant plus idol romances. Baal-Peor promised pleasure sans covenant; delivered plagues sans mercy. Idolatry always bills in wrath what it offers in parties.
Courage keeps distance from today's Baal-Peors. Our Peors wear secular names — success at any cost, limitless pleasure, scruple-free power. Approaching seems harmless: one party, one deal, one “just this time.” Israel thought so too. Holy distance is no fear but spiritual smarts: knowing prices means skipping samples. Far remains the only safe near.
Withdrawing from your Peor today: cutting invitations, blocking paths, confessing approaches. Far from Baal-Peor: rescuing distance.
Dangerous proximities demand swift flights. Fleeing today, never looking back. Flee fast and far today. Holy distances preserve whole hearts effectively. Withdraw today from seductions toward sanctity. Quick flights beat long excuses always. Far from danger, near to God. Samples tasted become chains forged gradually. Refuse first tastes categorically. Peor's pleasures bill eternally. Stay far and stay free forever.
And if you fell, returning as Israel returned: repentant, forgiven, restored.
