Remain in Me
Remain in me, and I will remain in you.
John 15:4 (NIV)
At the vine discourse's center, Jesus gives the simplest, deepest order: remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch bears fruit alone; neither do you, unless remaining. Notice he never says “strain,” “produce,” or “run” — he says remain. The Christian life's verb is staying, not doing. Fruit follows connection, never hustle.
Remaining is a daily, discreet art: opening the Word before the phone, praying in traffic instead of complaining, confessing fast instead of hiding. Branches strain no effort into grapes — they receive sap. Likewise: whoever remains wakes with unplanted patience, forgives with unfabricated love, serves with unforged joy. Sap accomplishes what strain cannot. Remaining faith fruits without advertising.
Check connection before production today: are you joined or merely busy? Return to the vine — five Word minutes, one honest prayer, one confessed sin. Remain in me, and he guarantees the rest: fruit, pruning, and harvest right on time. Branches never strive; they abide. Your spiritual productivity flows from connection, not hustle. Reconnect this morning through Word and prayer, confess quickly, and let sap do its silent work. Remaining looks passive but produces eternally. Stay joined and watch fruit surprise you.
